This course follows the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines for provision of First Aid. It aims to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to safely handle and use oxygen therapy equipment including cleaning, storage, set up and administration of oxygen on conscious breathing, unconscious breathing and unconcsious non-breathing casualties.

Upon successful completion, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment certificate.

Incorporating the Unit of Competence:

  • HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

The topics include but are not limited to:

  • Legal issues and requirements
  • DRSABCD
  • CPR (resuscitation)
  • Debriefing/welfare
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Oropharyngeal airways
  • Bag valve mask
  • Use of supplementary oxygen
  • Maintenance of resuscitation equipment
