Whilst not mandatory, a Swimming Instructor certificate is desirable as the basics of stroke formation will have been learned. 


The course is 5 hours face to face. The remainder of the learning is self paced, comprising of a workbook and field experience.

Course requirements must be completed within 6 months.


Competency based practical assessment as well as a theory component.

Verification Validity

5 years

Re-registration is available at a nominal fee.

Evidence of working within the industry during the previous 12 months must be provided.
